What are they:
Itchy skin can be allergic or reactive in nature. The cause is sometimes obvious, but other times can be frustratingly difficult to determine. We will help you identify the cause when possible (and indicated) using patch testing, blood work, biopsies, or medication reviews.
Hives, or urticaria, are itchy wheals that come and go.
Contact dermatitis refers to rashes caused by external applications that are either irritant or allergic in nature.
Photodermatoses refers to rashes exacerbated by sunlight. It includes lupus, certain drug reactions, and other allergic reactions.
How do we treat it?
We treat the symptoms of itch and rash with topical and oral medications, depending upon the severity. Additionally, we may suggest patch testing to identify a cause or rule out causes of your condition.
